We have some material that dates back to the first 0.0 release 20 years ago. Source code, shared data, aircraft, and executables are available for many historic release.Documentation is included with the base package.QGIS is quite a good package for this type of project. You can edit them with almost every GIS package. 2020.3.6 LTS and earlier will not automatically download OSM2City. OSM2City scenery for the whole world has been generated from the objects in the OSM database - see 1st world-build of OSM2City. A shapefile is a proprietary spatial information format. As of FlightGear 2020.3.8 and later, the normal way to get OSM2City is automatic downloads as you fly through TerraSync with the latest version of FlightGear. In order to add custom scenery to FlightGear, you must create a custom shapefile. You need plib-1.8.5 or newer to build FlightGear. Custom terrain in FlightGear is currently generated through processing shapefiles with TerraGear. Prerequisite: plib – portability libraries and scene graph. Many current Linux distributions now include OpenAL Soft so check and you may already have this installed or available. You see the progress in the bar below the button. Now press Install Selected Files to install the scenery. Press Select Install Destination and select the FlightGear scenery folder (usually FlightGear/data/scenery ). Tick the box in front of your scenery file. Prerequisite: OpenAL – We recommend OpenAl Soft 1.11.753 (or higher). Click Select Scenery Source to select the folder where youve stored your scenery chunk.Prerequisite: Glut (FreeGlut) – OpenGL Utility Toolkit (GLUT) library.(A suitable version is included with Linux distributions) Prerequisite: Boost – free peer-reviewed portable C++ source libraries.Alternatively you can use TerraSync. OSG version 3.4.0 or newer is recommended for best results. To see the terrain below your aircraft, you have to install the respective scenery. This can happen by downloading certain bits of scenery before flying as described in the article Installing Scenery. ![]() Prerequisite: Open Scene Graph – An open source scene graph management and graphics effects library. If you set invalid values or change your scenery directories later, you can change the settings by pressing the Prev button from the first page of the launcher.
